Do You Believe People Will Get Another Chance After Death?

Question: Do you believe that people will get another chance after death? How long does God’s offer of salvation apply?

Response: Israel rejected Christ, but Scripture is very clear that they will be saved (Romans 11 and Ez. 37:12). It’s extremely clear that He will raise the whole house of Israel from their graves and lead them into the land; they will accept Him. “This is the judgment the light has come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light.” At first, Grace is an offense to us all. It kills us and then resurrects us. Grace is the aroma of death—you must “lose your life to find it,” and then it brings life. You sing it: “It was Grace that taught my heart to fear and Grace my fears relieved.”

Regarding how long God’s offer of salvation applies, I believe that “It is appointed for men to die once, and then comes judgment.”

Scripture reveals that God “wills that none should perish,” and that He “takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.”

Some will make this confession while they walk the surface of this earth in physical bodies (we call these people “Christians”). Some will make this confession after spending an untold period of time weeping and gnashing their teeth in outer darkness. All will be “salted with fire” (Mark 9:49) somehow in the process (Pentecost or gehenna or the lake of fire and “theion“).

Even though Scripture seems to reveal that people can be saved—even beyond the grave—there still is an urgency to share the Gospel with them.  I can tell them: until they trust that God is salvation, the “wrath of God remains on them” and they cannot enter the Kingdom, but must remain outside the city walls weeping and gnashing their teeth . . . But YES, the Savior descends into hades, and He will “destroy the work of the devil” (1 Joh 3:8), and “romance all people to himself” (Joh 12:32), and “make all things new” (Rev. 21:5).

It’s not your will that saves you—this is the offense of the Gospel—your ego must die.
It is God that saves you. This is life, but you MUST die to yourself in order to be resurrected with it/Him. Jesus is the Life and the commandment of God. John 12, “God’s commandment is eternal life.”
