Sermon – ‘Creation: Did God Lose Control of Time?’

What popular stories in our culture have been significant to your own life and faith?

Which ‘story’ of God’s Mufasa / Darth Vader identity have you encountered more—Arminian or Calvinist?

How has the story that God will either endlessly bless you or endlessly punish, by your choice or His, impacted your faith? How has it affected your view of yourself and of God?

Pastor Peter points out some basic problems with the ‘traditional’ telling story of God, Adam and Eve, and sin. Have you ever questioned the ‘traditional’ telling of the story? If so, when and how?

Consider a time when you felt pain, hopelessness, distress, or doubt. What did that time feel like? How do you think God was experiencing that time in your life?

Pastor Peter stated that at the Cross, eternity invaded time. Can you identify a time in your own life where you really felt Eternity at the Cross invade/interrupt/interject? What was it like?

What is the story that you have been writing for yourself? What is the story that others have written for you?

Have you ever tasted, experienced, or listened to the story that God is writing for you? Has there been a time when you did not know God had a story for you?

Simba says the winds are changing and that change is not always easy. What is change like for you? What is it like when God changes you?

How often do you ‘remember who you are’? What practical ways can you think of to ‘remember who you are’? How does it feel to know that God never forgets who you really are?
