Reflective Questions for Personal Devotion and Communal Fellowship –
Sermon – To Trap a Monster and Make the Man – John 6:52-7:1
In what ways do you “work harder” at believing?
How does Jesus respond to you when you attempt to “work harder” at faith?
What does it feel like to know that Jesus chose you, rather than you choosing Jesus? How does this difference play out in your daily life?
How do you relate to / not relate to the traditional American evangelical story of salvation?
What does it feel like to be chosen by someone you love? How does it feel to be wanted?
How is your shadow side / your “I Am not” side affected by you being chosen by Jesus?
When do you notice the light annihilating the dark in your own life?
What kind of story does your shadow side write for you? How is it different from the story Jesus is writing for you?
Try envisioning Jesus directly speaking to your “monster self”. What does He say to it? How does it respond?
