Reflective Questions for Personal Devotion and Communal Fellowship –

Sermon – Who Wants to be Well? – John 5:1-18

Do you want to be well? Do pieces or parts of you want to be unwell?

What does it feel like to be treated with mercy? Who do you generally not treat with mercy?

Which parts or pieces of you remain untouched by mercy?

In what ways do you keep yourself attached to your own prison? In what ways do you “prevent” grace and mercy from accessing you?

What has your relationship been to the Law in scripture, or, more generally, rules—in your family, at work, society, or in your own home?

How does love fit into those rules/laws for you?

Where in your Christian life are you “trying harder”? Where in your Christian life do you feel that Jesus’ love is truly seeping in?

Who in your life, community, or country, do you most wish could taste a cup of water from Bethesda?

How can you make a practice of drinking from the river of Bethesda?
