They ask, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?” Jesus said, “Because of your little faith. If you had faith as a mustard seed…” He had already told them, “It is the smallest of seeds.” The problem really wasn’t the size of their faith, but understanding the nature of their faith and therefore, what to do with their faith. Faith is a seed. Jesus is a seed. For a seed to grow it must be delivered up to death. A seed must be planted in dirt and decay. In fear, we keep seeds safe from dirt and wonder why they don’t grow. Faith moves the Mt. of Transfiguration to the depths of the sea and transfigures all things.
