How do you react emotionally and theologically to Biblical stories involving shame / shameful elements, like nakedness, spit, etc.?
What does it feel like to be humiliated or shamed? What moments/experiences in your life have you felt these things?
What does Jesus do with your shame? What does Jesus do with His own shame?
Reflect on how your false self is connected to shame. How has this connection developed throughout your life?
Can you recall times when you felt more of Jesus than Me-sus? What was it like?
How does Jesus and Me-sus it affect your true self / false self? In what particular ways are you shaped by these opposing forces?
Where in your own self and life is shame very active? How do you deal with it?
How do you address the shame experienced by others?
Where in your own self and life does the righteousness of God need to be spit?
